Terms of Service

1. What ChaiRaiser is
ChaiRaiser is a platform that lets organizers create fundraising campaigns and lets donors support them. We provide the tools — campaign pages, sharing, matching pledges, team fundraising, live donation feeds — but the campaigns themselves belong to their organizers. By using ChaiRaiser you agree to these terms.
2. Donations, pledges, and money
- Your gift goes to the organizer, not to ChaiRaiser. ChaiRaiser is not a charity and does not hold, escrow, or take custody of donated funds.
- Pledge mode: some campaigns record pledges — a promise to give, with no charge made through the platform. The organizer follows up with you directly to collect. A pledge is a voluntary commitment between you and the organizer.
- Card payments: where card processing is enabled, payments are processed by Stripe and settle to the organizer's connected Stripe account. ChaiRaiser never stores your card number.
- Fees: recording pledges is free. Where card payments are processed, a platform fee of 2.9% plus standard card-processing costs apply, disclosed before you pay. ChaiRaiser never adds tips or surprise charges at checkout.
- Tax deductibility: donations are made to the organizer. Whether a gift is tax-deductible depends on the organizer's status, not on ChaiRaiser. Tax receipts are the organizer's responsibility; confirmations we email are records of the transaction, not charitable tax receipts unless the organizer says otherwise.
- Refunds: because funds go to organizers, refund requests are resolved with the organizer. Contact us and we will help connect you.
3. Organizer responsibilities
- Tell the truth. Campaign descriptions, goals, and beneficiaries must be accurate.
- Use funds for the stated purpose of the campaign.
- Only run campaigns that are legal where you and your donors are located.
- You are responsible for collecting your own pledges and for any receipts or tax documentation your donors need.
- You must have the right to any images or text you upload.
4. What is not allowed
- Fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive campaigns.
- Campaigns for illegal activity or that infringe the rights of others.
- Abusing the platform: scraping donor data, circumventing security, or interfering with other campaigns.
We may remove campaigns or suspend accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion, including where we believe donors are at risk.
5. No guarantee of campaigns
We work to keep the platform honest, but we do not investigate every campaign and cannot guarantee that any campaign will use funds as described. Give to campaigns and organizers you trust. If you see something wrong, report it to [email protected].
6. The service is provided "as is"
We provide ChaiRaiser as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChaiRaiser is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the platform fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
7. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; if we make meaningful changes we will update this page and the date at the top. You may stop using the platform at any time; we may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms.
